What we love about the Close To Curry blend is that it is all you need to make a dish be a success!   Curry flavored stews typically have at least 10 seasonings that needs to be added in order to get the complexity you want in your dish.    We have done the work for you and our Close To Curry blend makes this dish not only delicious, but super easy to make.

Close To Curry Braised Lamb

  1. Generously coat lamb with spice mix. If you have time let it “bloom” overnight.
  2. When you are ready preheat your oven to 325°.
  3. Brown the lamb in the canola oil over medium high heat in a dutch oven or heavy bottom pot with a lid.
  4. Once the lamb is well browned add garlic and onion and cook until fragrant about 2 minutes.
  5. Add chilies, tomatoes and stir.
  6. Add stock or water and coconut milk. Bring to a simmer, cover and place in the oven for about 1 hour.
  7. Once the lamb is tender add cilantro.
  8. Serve with basmati rice.

Grilled Pita

  1. Brush pita with olive oil.
  2. Quickly grill over medium heat.
  3. Serve immediately.

Minted Cucumber & Melon Salad

  1. Cut cucumber and melon(s) into small, bite sized pieces.
  2. Combine with all else and enjoy!


Close to Curry Braised Lamb

  • 1/4 C canola oil
  • 2 ½ pounds lamb stew meat
  • 2 Tbs Close To Curry Blend
  • 2 medium onions, diced small
  • 5 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 to 2 chiles, sliced (these are optional but what the heck…)
  • 1 pint sweet 100 tomatoes - whole
  • 2 C coconut milk
  • 1 qt stock (lamb or chicken) or water
  • 1/2 C chopped fresh cilantro leaves

Grilled Pita

  • 4-6 6 inch pita

Minted Cucumber & Melon Salad

  • 2-3 Tbs olive oil
  • 1 English cucumber – peeled
  • 1 C watermelon, cantaloupe or honeydew
  • 2 lemons – juice
  • 2 Tbs or so extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 tsp chile flake
  • 1/4 C crumbled feta
  • 1/4 C torn mint leaves
  • 1/4 C torn basil leaves
